The firm has been in public practice in Pakistan since 1988 specializing in financial, management and tax consultancy. It is headed by Mr. Viqar Ahmed Khan who beginning 1984, worked at Ernst & Young International in their Middle East practice servicing clients in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Dubai and Turkey. Prior to that he worked at A.F. Ferguson & Co. Chartered Accountants, Lahore for six years.

A brief History
‘Viqar A. Khan’ is a multi-disciplinary Chartered Accountants firm with a staff strength of around twenty. It has been advising the SBP Co-ordination Committee for the revival of sick units, United Bank Limited, CBR, Ministry of Finance (Federal), in the public sector. In the private sector, it has catered to cement, textile, paper & board, hospitality, light engineering, real estate development, hospitals, electronics, power generation, rubber industry, etc. etc.

In early 1998, on a mandate from CBR (Internal Revenue Service of Pakistan), scrutinized the entire fiscal law and conceptualized a scheme termed as the ‘New Tax Model’ for reviving the economy and increasing tax collection. Thereafter, at the request of the then Finance Minister, we prepared a scheme for the implementation of G.S.T.

We have been advising the SBP Co-ordination Committee and its sectoral sub-committees for the rehabilitation of sick units in the capacity of a financial consultant. Solutions were given to ensure sustained revival of sick or potentially sick industries. Investigative probing resulted in determining the earning power of the project. Group specific and project specific risk analysis enabled the financial institutions make informed decisions.

As a consultant to United Bank Limited, we advised on new products proposed to be initiated by all the then nationalized banks for reviving the textile industry. The results of the study helped the banking sector redirect its funds, thereby saving millions of rupees and thousands of man-hours.

We advised Asian Development Bank on developing the SME sector in Pakistan.
